A woman has started a heated online discussion after complaining about a tradesman’s response to her message in a Twitter post.
Evandra, who works in the interior architecture industry in the UK, has taken to Twitter to share her complaint about a carpet fitter who appeared to mock her after she had messaged him late at night.
In her text, which she sent to the unnamed tradesman at 00:15, Evandra asked if she could get a quote. Moments later, she received a reply that read: “Yes! Here’s a quote!! Who the f*** asks for carpets at 12:15am????”
Sharing a screenshot of the exchange on Twitter, Evandra wrote: “Loooll??? But what in the name of customer service have I just experienced.”
Soon enough, the designer’s complaint went viral whereas thousands of people reacted to her post and shared their own opinions on the matter.
While some insisted that the woman was in the wrong for messaging the carpet fitter past midnight, others said the tradesman was at fault for not investing in a work phone to keep his business separate from his private life.
“The notification most likely woke him up? I’d be p***ed as hell if someone texted me at that hour about work and it’s not an emergency,” one person wrote in tradesman’s defense.
Suggesting that Evandra was being entitled, some people went on to say that she could have easily waited until the morning before making a request.
While many lashed out at the designer and accused her of being inconsiderate, some rushed to her aid and suggested that the tradesman could simply ignore the message until the morning rather than reply to a potential customer in such a rude manner.
“But why are y’all acting like this man is right for his response as a business owner? He can use 2 different phones, get a texting app phone number to keep separate from your actual text messages, put a feature on your phone that automatically shuts certain things down,” one person wrote.
Another added: “She didn’t want the quote at midnight that’s just when she had the time out remembered to message. The person should’ve replied at their own convenience.”
