In fact, it is already being considered the most favorite choice of tourists and drunk people when they return from the bar.
The owner of the chippy store, Selim Sener, explained how the savory-sweet dish was prepared. He also gave an estimate of calories each piece of serving had, and that’s around 400.
“I have been doing deep fried Mars Bars all year round and Creme Eggs at Easter, this has been on the menu for around two or three years,” said Selim.
“It is prepared in the same process as the fish, fried in batter. We buy the Christmas pudding ready made and it is fried in the same batter the fish goes in.”
The 48-year-old added: “The ones we buy contain 322 calories per Christmas pudding, per 100g. Once it’s been deep fried it probably is around 400 calories.
“We just put it on the menu a couple of weeks ago and we’ve sold a few. People see it at Christmas time and they want to try it.”
The pudding that is specially made to welcome the Christmas is priced at £3.95 ($5.2), however, the amount is £5.50 ($7.2) if one wants to take it with ice cream.
“It is not too bad, I sold it to a few people and they were happy with it,” Selim said.
“It is heavy but it is nice warm. It is just Christmas pudding but warmer,” he said, as he clarified why people liked it despite the high burst of calories it had.
“We are in the city center and we get a lot of people who have been up all night and they end up here before they go home. They order everything. It is popular with tourists, not just drunk people.”
Saying himself to be ‘more Scottish than Turkish,’ Selim added: “I enjoy a deep fried Mars Bar once in a blue moon.”
