Del Monte has recalled thousands of products over fears they could contain life-threatening bacteria.
About 64,000 cans of ‘Fiesta Corn’ had not gone through full sterilization which is being sold in 25 US states, in stores like Walmart and Target.
The products which are currently being recalled could result in spoilage and possible contamination with life-threatening pathogens.
Del Monte has urged customers to throw 432g (15.25-ounce) cans of ‘Fiesta Corn’ bearing the UPC number 24000 02770 printed on the label as they could contain life-threatening bacteria as they missed the full sterilization process.
If consumers have already purchased the recalled product, they can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or exchange.
The recalled products are 15.25-ounce (432-gram) cans of Fiesta Corn Seasoned with Red & Green Peppers, according to an announcement issued by the FDA on December 11.
The affected products have the UPC number 24000 02770 on the label, as well as a range of “best if used by” dates from August 14, 2021, to Sept 23, 2021. No other Del Monte products are involved in the recall.
The 25 states where Del Monte Foods has announced a recall of canned corn include: Alaska, Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, El Salvador, Haiti, Guyana, Uruguay, Aruba, Panama, Saint Lucia and Suriname are also included.
