Two beer deliverymen from Minnesota saved a man who was about to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge as they offered him a 12-pack.
Kwame Anderson and Jason Gaebel were on duty driving their truck delivering beers in St. Paul, above Interstate 94, when they saw a guy clinging on the other side of the chain-link railing on the Earl Street Bridge.
In a video recorded by Kwame, Jason, who is in the driver’s seat, can be seen approaching out to the man, asking whether he is alright.
After the man told the delivery guys that he is about to commit suicide, they immediately pulled over and started calling out to him.
They called 911 immediately. However, even after the cops arrived, they kept talking to the man, hoping to keep him distracted off his plan.
Jason said that a poor guy was about to end his life in front of them and they weren’t in the position to witness it.
Kwame, on the other hand, said that he recalled the movie ‘Inside Man’ where Denzel Washington played an NYPD hostage negotiator. He said that in this situation, he has to be the negotiator and build a rapport with him.
He asked the man his name, where he grew up, and if he has a family. Apparently, the man was from Chicago and has two kids. However, he still refused to come down from the bridge.
Kwame asked the man if he wants some food or money, but refused to both. Then he remembered about the beers they were transporting. Kwame offered the man a drink.
He grabbed a case of Coors Light and told the man if he gets off the bridge, then he can have all of it.
The police had closed down the Interstate until he came down the bridge.
The authorities took him to the Regions Hospital for a medical checkup. The deliverymen shared the video on their Facebook that got more than 98,000 views and still counting.
The police appreciated the two men for showing the courage to save a poor man.
