It seems like nothing can stop coronavirus from spreading like wildfire, as another 99 cases have been confirmed on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess.
Hundreds of passengers are still inside the cruise ship, waiting for the signal from the officials whether they can leave.
There are now a total of 454 passengers on the ship tested positive. The latest cases were revealed after a batch of 504 tests was conducted, with 70 of the 99 new patients not showing any signs of coronavirus.
Diamond Princess is under a two-week lockdown, and hundreds of passengers are expecting to leave the cruise ship once the quarantine ends.
However, the arrangements are still not clear. That is, nobody knows whether the passengers will have to stay on board beyond the end of the two-week lockdown.
The crewmembers on Diamond Princess claim that they are being held by the Japanese authorities and are waiting for the foreign embassies and governments to take further actions on how they are going to retrieve all the citizens.
The United States government has already evacuated 300 of its citizens from the ship, with Canada and Australia, among other countries lining up rescue flights.
However, the government of the United Kingdom is still considering its options despite growing concern and frustration from the British Passengers.
The passengers of Diamond Princess are confined to their cabins until the two-week quarantine in Yokohama ends.
Japanese authorities quarantined the ship with 3711 passengers on board. It was after a Hong Kong citizen was tested positive for coronavirus.
According to reports, a total of 1723 passengers have been tested, out of which 454 have been found to have coronavirus.
The Diamond Princess is one of the largest clusters of coronavirus cases outside China. The spiraling number of cases from within the cruise ship is raising frustration among the passengers.
There were about 340 US citizens who were evacuated from the ship recently.
