A former palace staff claims that it was the late Princess Diana who cheated first on Prince Charles.
Prince Charles’s romance with Camilla Parker Bowles during his marriage to Princess Diana has been one part of the royal gossip for decades and that his first love was never the Princess of Wales.
It is also the same version that was pushed by the popular Netflix series “The Crown” where Prince Charles was seen heading off to meet up with Camilla and Princess Diana was left crying at home.
However, a former staff at the palace claimed that Princess Diana had other love interests too.
Allan Peters, a former protection officer of the royal family has claimed that Prince Charles began to rekindle his romance again with Camilla after he discovered that Diana was having an affair with another protection officer, the late Barry Mannakee.
“The popular is that the Prince of Wales was straying all the way through his marriage and that is definitely, unequivocally, not the case,” Peters told CNN. “The first person that strayed was the Princess. He went back to see Mrs. Parker Bowles after he learned about her affair with Mannakee.”

“I started to notice her behavior was unusual whenever we were anywhere near Mannakee, so I decided to talk to her about it,” Peters told CNN.point 172 | “For the first 20 minutes, she categorically denied it.point 225 |
But then she told me exactly what was going on: she was having some sort of relationship with Mannakee.point 85 | ”point 92 | 1
In an interview with CNN news, Peters revealed that Diana’s love affair with Mannakee is believed to have started in 1985, during a fishing trip to Balmoral.
After a year later, Mannakee was transferred to the Diplomatic Protection Squad where he tragically died in a crash, he was 39.
Peters also told the news outlet that he was the first person who discovered the forbidden romance and told Prince Charles about his wife’s affair with Mannakee.
According to Peters, Charles asked him why Diana was acting differently, and he told the prince that he should better speak to her about it.
“Well, I’ve tried all that, and the only thing that seems to be upsetting her is that Barry Mannakee is going back to uniform,” Charles allegedly told Peters at the time. “And, if she’s that upset, Barry can stay.”
To which Peters replied: “Well, Sir, if he stays, then I’m afraid I’ll have to leave.”
“And, I think, at that point, the penny dropped,” Peters said. “He was utterly shocked and was clearly very upset.”
