Princess Diana’s Former Butler Shared A Letter That She Wrote After Meeting Mother Teresa


Princess Diana who met Mother Teresa at the latter’s home in India in 1992 described how she felt crossing the path with her in a handwritten note.

Mr. Paul Burrell who shared the letter on Instagram along with a series of pictures of Diana and Mother Teresa’s meeting said her words brought him “light and encouragement in these dark times.”

The letter read: “Today something very profound touched my life. I went to Mother Teresa’s home in Calcutta and found the direction I’ve been searching for all these years.’’

“The sisters sang to me on arrival, a deeply spiritual experience and I soared to such great heights in my spirit. The light shone from within these ladies, saints for want of a better word, such love came from their eyes and their touch was full of warmth.”

In a video, Burrell who was Diana’s butler until her death said he was going through old documents and stumbled across this letter. He said: “During this lockdown I have had time to go through some personal documents and photographs from the past and I came across a note which Princess Diana wrote to me after she had visited Mother Theresa’s home in Calcutta.”

“For me these spiritual words bring light and encouragement in these dark times. And along with this note, I have posted some images from that visit which I hope you will enjoy.”

Diana’s former butler said the letter would be a great inspiration for others amid the coronavirus crisis. He said: “Princess Diana was very close to Mother Teresa. They met several times during the last years of Princess Diana’s life.’’

“On one occasion, the Princess visited Mother Teresa’s home and convent in Calcutta and met with the nuns of the order of the Missionaries of Charity. This previously unseen note from the Princess to me about the visit will hopefully provide inspiration in these times of lockdown.”

The royal fans were delighted to see the post as they thanked Paul for sharing the letter. One wrote, “So Beautiful, Thank you again, Paul, very moving.”

Another said: “Probably the best ever post about the beloved Princess Dianna and dear Saint, Mother Teresa.”
