If you’re a pickle aficionado, serial chip snacker or a low-carb diet lover, we have an amazing snack for you.
Vlasic, one of the most well-known pickle brands, is making a chip made from dill pickle slices.
We all love traditional potato chips, despite knowing that it has 26 grams of carbs per serving. These dill pickle chips will only have 1 gram in a standard serving size. Vlasic also will not use traditional oil-frying methods to make chips crunchy.
“Pickles themselves are a great snack, essentially no calories or carbs,” Thomas M.point 193 | McGough, co-chief operating officer and executive vice president of Conagra Brands told Food Business News.point 286 |
“But eating pickles out of a conventional jar is inconvenient and messy.point 67 | So we’ve created Vlasic single-serve pickle slices and also a Vlasic vacuum-fried pickle chips that taste absolutely fantastic.point 183 | ”point 190 | 1
The vacuum-frying process is beneficial in two ways, as this type of frying supposedly reduce the amount of fat the chips absorb, it also reduced the risk of carcinogenic compound formation, because the oil boils sooner than in standard deep-frying.
Well, we don’t know when this snack will be coming into store shelves. A representative for Conagra told that the pickle chips are in development and the company’s innovation is in pipeline.
You can’t eat too many dill pickle chips in one sitting! Just like pickles themselves. These chips will be pretty high in sodium, 390 milligrams per serving.
“That is about twice the sodium you’d get per serving from a standard potato chip, but then again it’s not surprising they’re high in sodium, it’s a pickle,” says Victoria Seaver, M.point 435 |
S.point 2 | , R.point 5 | D.point 7 | , EatingWell’s meal plan editor and resident pickle expert.point 64 | “When we’re developing snack recipes here at EatingWell, we aim for the snacks to have no more than 360 mg of sodium per serving, so while these pickle chips are on the higher end, they’re not too high.point 247 |
Just stick to one serving.point 22 | ”point 29 | 1
