Last September, Joanna decided to take Sebby on a trip to Legoland after his fourth operation.

Sebby was very excited about his trip to Legoland but he was left heartbroken when he was asked to prove he could walk to use the ride Ninjago.

Sebby was asked to get up from his wheelchair and walk three steps with the help of his mother and then was told to do it again as they were not completely satisfied and convinced that he could board the ride.

Joanna found it humiliating and said they could have asked them to do it in private. They felt embarrassed as they did it in front of so many people.

She said: “It was humiliating. I don’t agree with their three-steps rule, but they should have done this in private, at the start of the day so Sebby didn’t have to repeat it in front of other people.”

The incident made the family upset and it totally ruined their outing that was a treat for Sebby after his fourth operation.

Joanna has now filed a petition to demand fairer inclusion so no disabled child feels humiliated or excluded.

James Taylor, from disability equality charity, Scope, supported the petition and said he felt bad that a family outing that was supposed to be a happy day out ended up with a disabled child being publicly humiliated.

He said: “We’d urge all family attractions to work with their disabled customers to become as inclusive as possible, and put an end to upsetting ordeals like this.”
