In case you’re looking for a job, Disneyland Paris is hiring princes and princesses.
The gigs don’t require a previous experience because, obviously, the royals are not going to apply for the job.
According to a former Disney princess, the competition is colossal as there are hundreds of applicants for the same job, and to get selected, you need to meet the exact criterion set by the Disney people.
However, if you still want to try your luck, here’s what you need to know.
Disney will be holding three rounds of auditions for the selection process, all of them will be in the UK. The first one will be held on January 25 at Liverpool Central Studios aka Liverpool Theater School.
The second audition will be in Leeds, on January 26, at the Yorkshire Dance Center. The third and final chance for the audition will be at Pineapple Dance Studios, London on January 28 and 29.
The timing of the auditions is the same for all the locations.
The process will start at 10 am and will continue till 6 pm in the evening. You need to be there ahead of time to get a slot in the front of the long queue of the applicants.
The Disney people said they are going to hire “enthusiastic and highly energetic” people to join their “character and parade department.”
Or you can say that Disney wants people who are interested to “perform as a famous Disney and/or Marvel Character.”
Disney has not officially announced the exact characters they need people for but it is reasonable to assume it will involve princes and princesses.
Coming to the minimum requirements for the job, you don’t need to have previous experience as a prince or princess or even in any other niche related to the entertainment industry.
The only requirement is that you must be above 18 years of age.
If you want to be a “face character,” as a prince or princess, you need to have a bit of resemblance with the character. And if you want to be a part of the parade groups of the park, you must have a “good level of dance.”
Your height will be measured as part of the audition and you need to be between 173 to 193 cm or 4 feet 5 to 6 feet 4.
If you get selected, the character you are assigned will be in line with your height. For example, shorter people will have a chance of being assigned Mickey or Minnie.
The people who get selected will undergo extensive training and will have to sign a six-month contract with Disney.
A former Snow White from Disneyland California told that the panel first decides how much the applicant resembles a character. The next step is to dance for the judges and then there’s a sitting interview.
The former Snow White performer explained: “When I auditioned for Disney there were 700 others there and the audition took two days of different rounds until we were hired.
“It’s super competitive, they look at about 50 people at a time and go through rows of ten to decide who has similar features to the characters – after that there were only about 150 left.
“There were 15 hired that day, of which nine were princesses.”
Disney advises everyone to turn up in comfortable clothing as you will have to be part of a “movement/dance combination.”
Lastly, you need to go to the interview without any makeup and need to have your CV with you.
