An African American doctor has accused Florida police officer of handcuffing him while unloading supplies from his van for the homeless just because he’s black.
Dr. Armen Henderson told that the police officer stopped his patrol car on Friday and approached him when he was unloading supplies from his own van to give to the homeless in his front yard in Miami, Florida.
The police officer asked about the trash in Dr. Armen’s front yard and then handcuffed him when he failed to show his ID.
A security camera outside Henderson’s home in Miami, Florida captured the moment the police officer handcuffed the doctor.
Dr. Armen can be seen calling his wife who then showed an ID to the officer and he removed his handcuffs.
Dr. Armen, who works for the University of Miami Health System, believes if he was a white man, he wouldn’t have been treated the way the police officer treated him.
He said: “If I was a fairer-skin person or a white person, just doing the same thing, I don’t believe he would’ve stopped me. It was the nature of the stop that really concerned me.”
The officer also told him to refer to him as sir or sergeant when talking to him.
Dr. Armen said he didn’t do anything wrong, neither he swear at him but the officer handcuffed him just because he failed to show his ID.
He said: “He just grabbed my arms and cuffed me.”

Dr. Armen also criticized the police officer for not wearing a mask amid coronavirus crisis and for not maintaining social distancing.
He said: “I was taking tents out of my car, why was that even a reason to stop and talk to me? It is because of those reasons the number of cases was going up.”
“Why was he so ready to approach me without a mask on regardless or not if I was littering?”
Miami Police has confirmed they are investigating the incident but the identity of the officer is still not known.
