American bulldog and Great Dane cross Mary Jane could have set a new world record after she gave birth naturally to 21 cute puppies!
MJ’s owner, Jane Hine, was so shocked when the momma dog gave birth to so many pups!
Ms. Hine was told that MJ would give birth to six to eight pups and was surprised when tiny pooches kept coming out.
A Neapolitan mastiff named Tia currently holds the Guinness World Record for giving birth to 24 puppies in 2004 but the pooches were born via c-section.
“When the vets told me it would probably be more after they’d said she would have just six to eight I said ‘no way!’,” Joanne shared.
“I’m so proud of her. MJ did it all on her own with Annie and Ruth of Jane Callow Veterinary Practice by her side the whole time.
“MJ only has nine nipples and 14 pups so bottle feeding them every two hours is a team effort from us all.”
20 dogs from Tia survived.
6 of Mary Jane’s puppies were stillborn and one passed away. The surviving 14 puppies have been named after chocolate bars.
Some of the puppies do not have forever homes yet but two are soon being taken to a loving family in Yorkshire.
Joanne said that the dogs need to be fed every 2 hours so her dad, Steve and brother Matt will also take the puppies.
One internet user commented: “CONGRATULATIONS MJ., Good Job, Sorry for your loss.”
Another wrote: “is it just me who always think dogs are better looking than us humans?”
A third said: “Ahh, they are adorable. The mother has done well. Good job, lass! Hope the puppies will find a good home!”
