A dog, Max, hit the gearshift and put the car into reverse, drove in circles for an hour and smashed a neighbor’s mailbox.

Sabol didn’t know who was driving the car when she first spotted the vehicle, that was whirling around the block like an unprofessional driver is behind the wheel.
According to Anna Sabol, who lives across from the cul-de-sac, she watched the car’s strange doughnuts and realized that her dogs are barking. She looked out her window and saw officers gathered around.
The vehicle hit a mailbox and some garbage cans then slowed down. When Port St. Lucie police opened the door, a large black Labrador retriever comes out of the driver’s seat.
“At first I thought I saw somebody backing up, but then they kept going, and I’m like, ‘OK, what’re they doing?'” she told CNN affiliate WPBF.
Her reaction when a dog got out of the vehicle: “This is turning weird.”
Sabol told the Sun-Sentinel that the car finally stopped after hitting a mailbox. The dog’s owner has reportedly promised to fix the damage.
Reportedly, no one was injured, and the silver 2003 Mercury Sable sustained only minor damage, the Port St. Lucie Police Department said. Max is “fine, healthy and happy.”
“They should give that dog a license,” Sabol told the Sun-Sentinel. “He drives better than some people I’ve seen on the roads here.”
