A sneaky police therapy dog has been spotted stealing toys from the Christmas donation supply of the station.
Residents donate toys and some items every December so that the less fortunate could experience a special day.
Franklin Police Department was getting ready to give out exciting gifts to the Santa Foundation when officers noticed that many toys were missing.
They then discovered that Ben, a Golden Retriever, was stealing toys and bringing them into different areas of the station.
They even caught him walking through the facility with a large toy in his mouth.
“We learned an extremely valuable lesson today. When you have a classroom full of toys ready to be shipped off to the Santa Foundation, you should…1. Close the door to the classroom. Or 2. Keep the toys elevated,” the police department wrote.
“If not, a golden retriever will slowly hoard them throughout the day and bring them back to his lair. Thanks to Officer Cusson for capturing this larceny on camera.”
Deputy Chief James Mill said to Boston 25 News: “We’ve has several officers that have worked very hard to make sure that some of the kids in town and the community that have needs will have something to open on Christmas.
“When they saw him walking out of the classroom, they were like: ‘What is he doing?’
“The facility is locked down so we knew it was pretty simple to figure out it was Ben. When Ben saw the toys, he thought they all belonged to him.
“It was an easy solution. Ben here is now banned from this room. I mean, he’s gotten his slobber all over them at this point so the police department has replaced them.
“He has the run of the station and it’s amazing. It’s amazing. He’s like that guy who shows up to the party that everyone loves and seriously, if Ben walks in, it’s like a ray of sunshine.”
