Goosie the strong pit bull has many things to celebrate.
Just last year, she was fighting for her life. Now, the 11-pound pooch had more than 300 friends at her party.
Her story started on April 22, 2018, when Goosie was born without a nose. The breeder who was taking care of Goosie’s mother reached out to the Sanctuary Rescue in Virginia looking for a home that could provide her special needs.
“We had successfully raised a cleft lip/palate puppy a few months before, so we were up for the challenge,” said Adri Thrift, the founder of Sanctuary Rescue.
The non-profit saw the pooch through numerous hospitalizations, endless doctor’s appointments and several close calls. Because her future was not certain, Sanctuary Rescue makes sure all her small achievements are celebrated.
“We started celebrating her birthday every week when she was just two weeks old. She was so fragile as a baby we didn’t know how much time we would have with her so the weekly birthdays were born,” Thrift said.
Goose kept on thriving, accepting new challenges with her “hilarious, little personality.” Her strong attitude earned her loyal followers on social media!
After having 52 weekly birthday celebrations, Goosie had enticed a lot of animal-lovers who wanted to join her first yearly birthday party.
More than 300 people came to see the birthday gal who was dressed in a white gown.
Weighing only 11 pounds while other pit bulls her age weigh more than 50 pounds, Sanctuary Rescue believes Goosie is the ‘The World’s Tiniest Pit Bull.’
Goosie is now happy with a foster family on a farm. She spends her days playing around with birds and other animals.
