Summer is a great time of the year because it often means trips to the beach or a pool and enjoying a clear and rejuvenating day out in the sun.
If you’ve been cooped up at home all winter or if it’s cold for most of the year where you live, then summer is like manna from heaven when it comes to the bliss that it brings.

But if you’re used to the cold, then summer can also bring about its own challenges. The biggest issue, of course, is the heat. When it gets really hot outside, it can really drain your energy and wish for nothing more than a cold place to pass the day.
And when it comes to our furry family members, it can be even more of an issue for them because of all that fur. Some breeds have less fur and may be able to cope better. But some dog breeds have a lot of furs and it can make going through a hot summer day a miserable experience.
Fortunately for one Newfoundland, his owner dumped a load of ice cubes into an inflatable pool so that the adorable pooch can get through the hot day like a boss. We can see him in the video immersing himself in the tub of ice but he doesn’t stop there. He’s actually munching away at the ice chips and literally chilling out!
The closest a human could probably get to this would be to soak in an indoor pool with some ice cream in hand. That’s an awkward pose any way you look at it which makes this Newfoundland’s chill out even more impressive.
Props should be given to the owner because Newfoundlands are not built for hot climates which makes it even more important to be sensitive to their care during the hottest days of the year. They can easily become dehydrated if you’re not careful and that leads to a whole other host of problems.
But those precautions don’t just apply to dogs. During the summer, avoid going out during the hottest times of the day, normally from noontime until late afternoon. If you do need to go out, make sure that you properly hydrate yourself before stepping out and always have some water with you wherever you go.
Heatstroke is one of the biggest dangers and if you’re not careful, you could end up risking your life. Particular care should also be taken when it comes to the elderly and young children who are more vulnerable to extreme changes in temperature.
