One pooch named Shiro recently went viral for comforting every foster pet that his owner brings. He has so much love to give not only to his human companion but also to other creatures.
Sheryl Smith, Shiro’s owner, has been rescuing abandoned, sick and mistreated animals when she met Shiro, a partially blind and deaf puppy. She decided to adopt him after the pooch has been adopted four times but families returned him back.
But Shiro’s life was changed the moment he met Smith. She told The Dodo: “He was a handful but everyone else had given up on him and we weren’t prepared to do that too.”
The pooch has been abandoned so many times that it gave him anxiety. “He still to this day cries in the car because he thinks he’s being dropped off somewhere else.”
Despite being partially blind and deaf, Shiro does his best to comfort new foster pets to make them feel welcome until they go to their forever homes.
Smith explained: “Just after his rescue, l rescued a pregnant dog who was too sick to care for her pups so Shiro climbed in with them and started cleaning them.
“He’s done that with every rescue I take in. He will just sit patiently with the feral cats/kittens and bonds so strongly with them, they trust him before they trust me.”
One internet user commented: “Look at the beautiful smile on that pup.. That warms my heart a thousand fold.”
Another wrote: “I wish people could be more like dogs, what an awesome world we would live in.”
A third added: “Shiro is clearly a hero with a huge loving heart.”
