Lauren Buckley began to foster animals after she rescued her first dog named Brook.
She found him on the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter in Alabama. Once she found out about him, she knew that she had rescued him from there.
This experience made Buckley realize that there are so many dogs out there with a dark, unhappy future. But they would be ideal partners for humans if given a fair chance. She and Brooks had been together for four years, and she loved and cherished all the moments they spend.
However, recently, Lauren took such a damaged and neglected dog that even she was unsure if she could take care of it. She said that she came across pictures of Lainey and her brother on Facebook. Their pictures were posted by Good Samaritan, who found the dogs. In his post, the man said he could not keep the dog, and she knew something needs to be done.
Lainey, the dog suffered from secondary skin infection and demodectic mange. And over the coming months, she would need to go aggressive medical treatment. But with a lot of love and affection, the brave one pulled through.
As soon as Lauren brought the dog home, she dedicated all her time to her recovery. Lainey was in a terrible condition and used to bleed all over the couch. And, not to forget the stinking smell.
Demodex or demodectic mange is a condition resulted from a mite that appears like a cigar and known as démodéx canis. While these mites are typically harmless, when dogs have a weakened immune system, they can grow excessively.
If the mites spread across the body, it can turn out to be life-threatening if not treated properly.
During the entire process, Buckley made sure that the dog has everything it needs to recover. She fed her medicines, rubbed coconut oil on her skin, gave her medicated baths, and did everything to keep a favorable environment for Lainey.
With necessary love, attention, and care, this brave little dog is recovering healthily and happily.
