A former police dog cried after reuniting with her old handler, and it’s leaving everyone in tears.
Wangwang, a German Shepherd, worked as a sniffer dog at security checkpoints in Henan province, China.
According to the Daily Star, the loyal pooch was adopted by a loving family after she retired in 2019. This means she and her handler got separated after years of working together.
But last month, the police handler made time to visit Wangwang while patrolling near the pooch’s home.
In a video posted on Xichuan Police’s social media account, the officer can be heard calling the pooch from outside her home.
The excited pooch immediately rushed out of the door and went straight to his arms. She was seen letting out a cry as she rubbed on his legs, and it’s melting everyone’s hearts.
When it was time for the patrol unit to return to their police vehicle, Wangwang refused to let them go as she sat next to her handler.
“It is always hard to bid farewell to your buddy,” the post read.
One person commented: “The dog is welling up. Dogs are really loyal companions, please treat her well!”
Another wrote: “You can tell how much Wangwang misses her handler. You can understand when the dog greets you belly up.”
When asked by viewers why the pooch was not allowed the stay with the police handler, Xinchuan Police replied: “Police dogs are generally well fed at the training centre but our officers could not dedicate their time to play or exercise with retired dogs.
“They will be better looked after in a suitable family than staying in the training centre.”
