A golden retriever has gone viral after it was revealed that he helps his isolated neighbor with underlying health conditions by delivering groceries amid coronavirus lockdown.
As Colorado-based Karen Eveleth explained, she gave her dog Sundance a very important job – to collect shopping lists and deliver essentials to Renee Hellman, his neighbor.
According to Good Morning America, Hellman is a senior with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Due to her underlying condition, the woman self-isolated as contracting coronavirus could easily turn out to be fatal for her.
To assist her neighbor without exposing her to potential viruses, Eveleth has decided to make Sundance pick up her grocery orders and deliver the food so that she doesn’t have to come in contact with other people at all.
“I told her, ‘I don’t want you going anywhere. When I get groceries, I’ll get yours too,’” Eveleth explained in an interview with GMA.
“She is so happy and grateful to see him every day at her porch. Smiling ear to ear every time.”
Nowadays, the good doggie picks up Hellman’s grocery list every day before delivering the supplies after his owner makes the purchase.
As the proud owner went on to claim, it only took Sundance one day to master the new routine.
“He does get his treats, he’s motivated by those for sure,” Eveleth added in an interview with KRDO.
“But he’s really special to me, and I’d be lost without him because he helps me so much, so I wanted him to help other people. That’s exactly what he did. I’m pretty proud.”
