A dog had to be euthanized after a cruel brute poured acid all over its body in a vicious acid attack in Northern Ireland.
Following the attack, Patch the Staffordshire bull terrier suffered severe burns all over its body and was put down by the vet.
Speaking of the sickening attack, heartbroken owner of Patch, Hannah Marriott, expressed: “Whoever did this to this poor dog are sick, sick people.”
Urging the public to provide the authorities with information that could lead them to arrest the culprit, Inspector McCullough said:
“Police received a report about an injured dog in the Pound Road area of Newry at approximately 6.10pm on Tuesday 28 May.
“The animal was taken to a local vet, however, due to the severity of its injuries the dog had to be euthanized.”
As the news of the brutal attack spread around Northern Ireland, a local animal welfare group also urged social media users to contact the police if they have any information related to the case.
“This happened in the Newry area,” the Pets Lost and Found Northern Ireland spokesperson wrote.
“The poor dog was covered in acid. If anyone has information about this incident or the dog please call the PSNI on 101.”
While the hunt for the acid attacker continues, thousands of people expressed their outrage on social media and slammed the cruel brute for their actions.
“The owner of the dog has been notified and they are traumatized by what has happened to their family pet,” one person said.
Another one suggested: “Whoever did this to an innocent dog could do the same thing to any one of us.”
