A dog gave birth in a couple’s car just hours after they rescued her from a kill shelter.
Rebecca and Kevin Lynch were on a vacation in Savannah, Georgia. They came to know about a pregnant dog with heartworms and a broken leg.
The couple wanted to save the neediest dog from a kill shelter in Georgia.
“I know that Georgia has a lot of rural, high-kill shelters and I knew I wanted to save the neediest dog from a shelter before I went home,” Lynch told The Dodo.
“I had space in my car and wanted to help.”
Rebecca wrote on her Facebook: “Kevin Lynch and I just had a wonderful, memory-making weekend in Savannah with some of our dearest friends.”
“On our way home…we just scooped up this precious nugget, Lizzy. She was surrendered to a high-kill shelter, very pregnant, afraid and confused. Lizzy is a gentle, sweet love and she is safe now!”
“She’ll head to our vet tomorrow and we’ll make sure she’s giving birth in a comfortable, stress-free environment.”
They rescued the pregnant dog named Lizzy but even before reaching their home, the dog had already given birth to six puppies in their car.
The Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida shared photos of the dog and her adorable puppies with an update on Facebook:
“We can’t even go on vacation without helping a dog (or seven)!”
“Our president, Rebecca Lynch – The Rescue Realtor, was on vacation this weekend in Savannah.”
“We’re happy to report that the little family is doing well, but they are going to require a lot of vetting and care.”
Lynch told The Dodo: “Lizzy is a doll. Bless her heart, with all that she’s been through in her short life, she is so loving and trusting. She is a gentle and loving soul. Pretty remarkable.”
