A sweet beagle couldn’t hold back his gratitude after he was rescued from certain death by a Good Samaritan.
Gregory the Beagle had a tough life and was almost euthanized by the shelter where he was staying. Fortunately, however, the dog’s story changed for the good after Joe Kirk appeared in his life out of nowhere.
Mr. Kirk and his wife Schenley are the founders of a non-profit organization called Hound Rescue and Sanctuary that specializes in saving the lives of stray dogs and neglected canines that are “unadoptable and senior.”
When the couple saw that Gregory was at a high risk of getting put down, they knew they had to act quick and adopt the pooch. Following the successful rescue mission, Gregory rewarded Joe with the sweetest hug ever.
“Gregory is one thankful and appreciative Beagle! He KNOWS he is SAFE! He is Heartworm Positive and will be going through treatment, but he knows he is in good hands! We will get him healthy and provide him all the love he so deserves and a wonderful future!!” Mrs. Kirk shared in a Facebook post.
Speaking to Bored Panda of their passion to save animals in need, Mr. Kirk added:
“We generally house and care for 25 to 30 dogs at a time, consisting of dogs that are available for adoption as well as sanctuary dogs that will live out their lives being loved and cared for by us.
“After saving Gregory from the euthanasia list at the shelter, we provided him the veterinary care and heartworm treatment he required.”
As the Good Samaritans also mentioned, Gregory found a forever home after they were able to treat his condition.
“He now has a wonderful family that loves him very much and he is enjoying a very happy life. Gregory’s family also has another Beagle and he and Gregory have become best pals,” Joe said.
