57-year-old Phil Mitchell lives with his labrador named Luis in Brampton, Devon. Recently, Luis got his head stuck in a cat flap and Phil had to call 999 for help.
After Luis poked his head through the cat flap, his head got stuck in it. Phil tried his best to remove it but he couldn’t.
He then called 999. He took Luis at a local fire station where a firefighter removed the cat flap using a saw.
Phil said that he had a visitor from the council and he was busy talking to the visitor. He then saw Luis poking his head through the flap but didn’t think anything of it.
But, Luis put his head through too far and got it stuck in the cat flap. He tried to remove it but had to call 999 when nothing worked.
Phil said: “We had a visitor from the council and we were standing in the porch talking. Next thing we knew, we looked down and saw Luis poking his head through the flap.”
“We carried on talking when he must have put his head through too far. He tore the cat flap off the door completely trying to get out of it. We tried to help him get it off but there was no way. It was jammed right on.”
“I didn’t know what else to do so I dialed 999 and asked for the fire service.”
Phil took Luis to the Somerset Fire and Rescue Service depot in Bampton where a firefighter managed to remove the cat flap from two-year-old Luis’ head.
Phil said that the cat flap was installed by the previous owner of his bungalow and he doesn’t even have a cat.
The video was shared online and people thanked the firefighter for rescuing the dog who got his head stuck in the cat flap.
