A heartbroken pooch waits on a jetty for its lost owner who fell into the river.

The 3 or 4-year-old dog was found struggling to stay afloat in the middle of the Chao Phraya River in Thailand.

Fortunately, a resident named Piengkamol Kerdsomsri found the pooch and she pulled him to safety. He was drenched from the dirty water and was shaking.

Ms. Kerdsomri now calls the dog ‘Luck,’ who keeps on waiting on the edge of the jetty every single day, hoping his owner will emerge from the water.

Every time a boat passes by, he expects to see his owner only to be disappointed in the end.

Ms. Kerdsomri has been taking care of the heartbroken pooch since the incident but Luck still doesn’t want to eat. As soon as he wakes up in the morning, he goes straight on the edge of the jetty, looking out over the water.

“He fell from the boat that was riding past my house. I didn’t see that but I saw him swimming towards me,” she said.

“The reason I believe he fell off the boat is because whenever he hears the boat engine, he always runs to the end of pier like he is expecting someone.”

She added: “He will be sitting at the pier every morning and will be sad in the afternoon. He denies almost everything I feed him. I just wish that he could see his owner again.

“That was all he did for most of the first day. He was so scared and didn’t allow anyone to touch him or eat anything until the afternoon.”

Ms. Kerdomsri admitted that it ‘breaks her heart’ to see the pooch so sad but she said that if the owner doesn’t appear, she will adopt Luck.
