A 3-year-old boy who was mauled by a dog in a busy playground was left with teeth marks and flesh hanging off his arm.
His father, 34-year-old Daniel Parry, said he and his son, Luca, were leaving the playground when the animal suddenly jumped at his son.
He claims that Luca was left with “teeth marks on his arm and flesh hanging off” after the horrifying incident.
Mr. Parry and his son visited the playground in Otterspool Promenade on Saturday afternoon as the area is a ‘safe haven’ for them.
But when they were about to go home, Mr. Parry claims he saw two dogs with their male owner and one of the pooches suddenly lunged at his son.
The animal’s owner immediately fled the scene as workers from a play center rushed to help the boy.
Luca was rushed to a hospital where Mr. Parry was told that Luca was lucky he did not suffer artery or nerve damage.
“There were two dogs strapped up, with a man looking into the playground,” Mr. Parry said. “They didn’t seem very feisty or anything like that. We walked around them and Luca was next to me, but all of a sudden one of the dogs ran out.
“The dog must have had an extension on its lead because it got out so far and bit my son’s arm. I instinctively reacted, so the dog must have panicked and left him.”
“But it happened all so fast. I looked at his forearm and he had a big cut, the teeth had gone in and there was flesh hanging out,” continued.
“He’s ok now and he’s been seen to. But the teeth have gone into his flesh, he’s got a big laceration on his arm and there’s a wound there.”
