Maru was sold by her breeder Alla Morozova to a couple when she was only five months old.
The adorable pooch adjusted well to her new family.
Unfortunately, Maru’s owners didn’t want her anymore because the female owner realized was allergic to dogs. They contacted Alla and asked if she could take the canine back.
Alla agreed, according to The Siberian Times. “I never give up my puppies and when a dog is bought, it is stipulated that the owners should inform me if they do not need a dog anymore.”
The couple sent Maru back to the breeder via the Trans-Siberian train. After over 100 miles into the journey, the train stopped and Maru escaped.
“She was frightened. She had been brought by her owners, then they disappeared somewhere. The noise of the train scared her. The dog jumped on the compartment door, kicked the handle to open it and almost threw the conductor out of the way. She jumped out like a bullet.”
The poor dog became scared and confused that she tried to run away from the train and injured herself.
“She was lame, her paws were broken. The pads were damaged. Her muzzle was broken.”
The attendant on the train couldn’t go after Maru as the train started to move. The previous owners were contacted about the dog going missing but they refused to help.
“That angered me. The owners were not upset at all, like, well, the dog is lost and that’s all right. That was their answer. They gave the dog away and the load fell off their shoulders.”
Alla shared messages on social media asking people to keep an eye out for the missing dog. She also distributed photos of Maru.
Fortunately, she was seen two days later roaming near her previous home, searching for her owners.
Alla couldn’t believe the dog managed to avoid wolves and wild bears while looking for her owners. “I’m sure that she was looking for her house. Dogs are very attached to people. She did not run to Novosibirsk, she wanted to go back where she lived,” she said
“It is surprising that she went the right way. Geographically, she had no reference points at all. In the city she used to walk only in the yard, she never went anywhere else. And to make her away through the wild taiga, it is an amazing case.”
Many people contacted Alla asking if they can adopt the loving pooch. Hopefully, she finds the forever home she deserves.
