A 3-year-old French Bulldog has shown everyone in no uncertain terms why dogs are called “man’s best friend” after thwarting a burglar at his owner’s home despite himself suffering from a debilitating condition.
Harley the French Bulldog has epilepsy and as such is prone to frequent seizures. That’s why his owner Samantha Sanchez had recently installed a motion-activated camera so that she can still keep an eye on Harley whenever she leaves the house.

And it’s this same camera that captured Harley’s heroics on December 5 soon after Samantha left home.
On that particular Thursday, Samantha left the house at just past soon but only eight minutes later, she was pinged by an alert on her front door.
She immediately rushed back to her home on Olive Drive and discovered that her front door was busted and thrown wide open.
“Felt violated. Disturbing,” said Samantha.
Samantha reviewed the camera footage and discovered what had happened.
The sounds of the door being forced can be heard in the video. At that point, Harley starts growling.
The video then skips to the 12-second mark where Harley can be seen sitting while staring at the open door. Samantha surmised that the intruder had been intimidated by her 30-lb Frenchie and never stepped foot inside the house.
“Thank God for Harley,” she said.
It helped that Harley was particularly loud.
“You can see how he would be mistaken for a bigger, more aggressive dog just by how loud he is,” she explained.
The incident, while harrowing, still brings a smile to Samantha’s face when she thinks about Harley facing off against the burglar.
“Harley is my hero. He saved us,” said Samantha.
What makes Harley’s actions even more heroic is the fact that there was a fresh urine stain when Samantha came home. This means he suffered a seizure during or just after the break-in.
“Harley got a new bed. Harley got a new toy and sausages. Harley gets whatever he wants now,” said Samantha.
Still, they need to keep on their toes. The neighborhood already suffered two other burglaries in the past week.
