Last month, the RSPCA put a mother Dachshund named Olive under their care. She had with her nine three-week-old puppies that the staff at the charity believe were supposed to be sold as Christmas presents. The nine sausage dog pups were named after Santa’s reindeer, namely Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolf.

Because they’re still so young, they still can’t be set up for adoption yet need round-the-clock care which includes giving them special food and toys.point 251 |

RSPCA manager Julie Cockroft said: “We have to have one member of staff constantly allocated to these puppies as even the simplest of tasks – such as checking and cleaning their teeth – can take ages with nine wriggly, little puppies.

“They need a lot of care and, also, a lot of specialist things, so if any members of the public are able to help by making donations or dropping off any useful items then that would be hugely helpful. We’re particularly looking for puppy food and toys to keep them entertained.”

Once they’re old enough, the puppies will be put up for adoption. But if you’re already set your eyes on one, don’t expect too much because the RSPCA was already flooded with 500 applications within 24 hours.

But if these cute ones were enough to tug at your heart and make you want to adopt a dog, there are other pups under the RSPCA’s care who are also looking for their forever home, so you should check them out, too.

However, adopting a dog isn’t the only way you can help the RSPCA because they also have a fundraising drive called Stock the Sleigh. A donation of £7($9) will go towards keeping an animal warm using a cozy blanket.
