Dogs are men’s best friends, and you never know how they can come to rescue your life.
Recently, a dog lover revealed how her dog had saved her life by alerting her about breast cancer.
She said that her dog alarmed about her situation by frequently sniffing her arms. Joanne Lowen, 60, a retired school teacher, is grateful for her dog for an early cancer diagnosis.
Joanne has a habit of giving shelter to the homeless and wounded pets in her house. That’s something that has helped her rescue from a life-threatening disease.
Menios, a Hellenic hound, was found in a terrible condition when Joanne found him. He was starving and weighed only 8lbs. Menios also had broken ribs and dislocated knee caps.
Joanne, who had already adopted two pups from Greece, gave shelter to Menios that ked to early diagnosis of her breast cancer.
Menios used to sniff her arms repeatedly that developed a suspicion and compelled Joanne to visit a doctor. A few months earlier, Joanne had a mammogram that came out clear. But, when Menios wouldn’t stop sniffing her arms, she had to visit a doctor.
Joanne had heard about dogs sniffing illness, so she decided not to take any chances and get a thorough diagnosis. During the diagnosis, it was found that Joanne was at the early stage of breast cancer.
Joanne was shocked at that moment. She thought, if it weren’t Menios, she would have waited for the next mammogram, which was due to happen in the two-three years. Things would have escalated, of Menios didn’t detect her illness.
Joanne went for the treatment and completely recovered in June 2019. And today, she is grateful for the day she found Menios because, without him, she wouldn’t have been able to know about her breast cancer so early.
