A woman who is in recovery has credited her giant dog for her survival after she and the pooch got involved in a terrible car crash.
As KATU reported, Nicole from Oregon got into a car crash while driving along the Molalla River at night with her dog, Clyde, seated in the back seat.
When a deer suddenly crossed paths with Nicole’s vehicle, the crash sent the car flying down a steep embankment and resulted in the vehicle slamming against a tree.
“Somehow after [the] impact I slipped and tumbled down another 50 feet. I woke up on my back with him standing over me, barking and licking my face,” Nicole said.
Fortunately, the loyal dog not only woke up his owner but also helped her climb back up to the road.
As the woman added, she and Clyde had made it up the embankment together before walking for another two miles to find help.
After the rescue, the doctors told Nicole she suffered cracked ribs, a cracked collarbone, and a concussion during the car crash.
Clyde, too, was taken for a check-up and is believed to be doing okay.
As Nicole insisted, Clyde saved her life by being there for her when she needed him the most.
“I never imagined that one of my dogs would save my life in the way that Clyde did that night,” the proud dog owner said.
According to Nicole, she made sure that her good boy was rewarded for his brave actions with a “nice hunk of meat and his favorite marrow bones.”
