An adorable sausage dog was found wandering the beach alone after sneaking out of the owner’s house and going on an 18-mile road trip to get to the seaside.
4-year-old dachshund named Frank has given his owner the fright of her lifetime after escaping Michelle Ballard’s home and taking a bus to the beach.
As Essex-based Ballard explained, her mischievous pooch sneaked out of her home and strolled around Colchester before taking a bus to Clacton.
While the owner was frantically searching for the dog and organizing a search party, Frank was on the way to the beach without getting noticed by the bus driver.
Fortunately, Frank was spotted by a fellow commuter who took the pooch home after realizing that he was lost.
Later that day, the rescuer also came across Ballard’s Facebook post about her missing dog and arranged with the woman for a reunion.
“I thought a bus driver would have noticed and not let him on but maybe he boarded when someone was paying,” Michelle said.
“Luckily, there was a kind gentleman called Michael who offered to take him back to his own home in Clacton. He took him in for the evening and was going to take him to the vet in the morning but his family spotted the post on Facebook. My partner Jonathan picked him up at about 7pm.”
After the reunion, Michelle admitted that it wasn’t typical of Frank to do something like that.
“He is a valuable dog and you hear some horrible stories about situations like this. We were so lucky it was such a kind man who picked him up,” she added.
“It is completely out of character for Frank. It is the first time he has done anything like this in his life.”
