An Australian animal emergency center received an unusual call regarding a dog swallowing a fork.
Yes, it was not the case of miscommunication or a prank call but a real incident.
Dustin, the dog, ate a metal fork and his caring owner called emergency services for aid.
Adelaide Animal Emergency and Referral Center shared the incident on Facebook where they explained what happened when they got the call.
First, they were too surprised to understand the situation but then started asking relevant questions to help the desperate owner.
They asked whether the fork was plastic or a metal one and then enquired about its size. Since they knew the doggo needed help as soon as possible, they asked the owner to get Dustin for the emergency treatment.
An X-ray confirmed Dustin had swallowed a fork and the medics had two options – removing it via surgery or removing it using an endoscope. Fortunately, in the case of Dustin, the latter one was a success.
Along with the post, the animal emergency center shared a video showing how the fork was removed from the doggo’s stomach.
Taking out such a large fork using a tube with a handle must have been extremely difficult for the doctor but their precision-made the task seem effortless.
Dogs seem to swallow almost everything they see from a sock to a soap bar. However, eating an entire fork is such a rarity.
One of the users commented that the dog sounds like a Goldie and revealed how they have to frequent the vet almost every year for similar instances where their pet eats anything.
They, however, noted that a fork is not something their dog had eaten. Another user commented that they knew it was definitely a goldie followed by a facepalm emoji.
Hats of to the entire team the performed the job and hopefully, Dustin or any other dog never swallows something like a fork in the future.
