An adorable dog named Charlie had jumped into the water to pursue his family after they left the shore using their boat.
As one of the dog’s owners explained in an interview with The Dodo, Charlie typically doesn’t join them on boat rides due to his fear of moving objects.
One day, the family took off with their boat parked at a dock near their home thinking that the pooch will return home after their leave as usual.
This time, however, Charlie was determined to overcome his fears as he jumped into the water and started following his family by swimming.
“He typically gets really bad anxiety around any large moving objects. He either waits at the truck or just goes back through the woods to get home. We never force him to get on with us to spare him the anxiety!” Randi Mendenhall said of Charlie in an interview with The Dodo.
One day, however, Charlie decided to show his family what he’s made of.
“Once we got the boat out of the slip we realized he was acting really sad this time, so we started filming because it was so unusual for him,” Randi added.
“Right before we started recording we told my dad to turn around to go get him. We were in the process of trying to turn our big pontoon around in a no-wake zone but I guess he was impatient.”
After a minute or so, Charlie managed to reach the boat whereas Randi’s fiancé jumped into the water to help him get on board.
Apparently, the pooch finally conquered his fear of boats and decided to become a full-time member of the crew.
“Now that we know he’s over his fear we got him his own life vest and he will be a permanent member of the boating crew!” Randi told The Dodo.
