Two dogs were allegedly left in a hot car for at least two hours as scorching temperatures heated up the black vehicle they were trapped in.
As Cornwall Live reported, the incident occurred in Cornwall, UK, where concerned residents called the police to inform them about two dogs left behind in a vehicle parked at a parking lot near the beach.
According to a local who snapped and shared a photo of the car on the internet, the two dogs hadn’t been checked on or tended to for at least two hours even though temperatures were soaring high.
As Kieran Mccrash Mclelland confirmed, the police were already at the parking lot when he spotted the pooches in the black car. He believes that the authorities broke the window to free the dogs from the vehicle.
After the story and the photo of the car went viral, people expressed their anger over the owner’s actions and suggested the two dogs could easily perish while trapped in the hot vehicle.
“Many people still believe that it’s OK to leave a dog in a car on a warm day if the windows are left open or they’re parked in the shade, but the truth is, it’s still a very dangerous situation for the dog,” RSPCA warned.
“A car can become as hot as an oven very quickly, even when it doesn’t feel that warm.”
According to ASPCA, owners should never leave their dogs in a parked vehicle even if they crack the windows open and leave just for a moment.
Though the vehicle might be parked in the shade, the temperatures can still rise to dangerous levels even on a seemingly cold day.
