Fake Disney Frozen II dolls containing a dangerous chemical are sold in the market and parents are warned about the potentially dangerous toys.
The fake Disney Frozen II dolls contain banned chemical phthalates. The banned chemical used in the fake Disney Frozen II dolls has been linked to asthma, allergies and reproductive problems.
A set of four dolls labeled Aagel Girls are also found to contain a dangerous chemical and have a battery-operated removable electronic voice box.
The battery of the toy is fastened with sticky tape and the children can easily remove the batteries and can swallow it.
Both the toys were available to sell at Wellesbourne Market near Stratford-upon-Avon before lockdown.
Parents are now urged to check their kids’ toys while the dangerous toys have been seized by Trading Standards officers after finding the banned chemical in them.
The dangerous toys don’t have the details of the manufacturer or importer on the packaging which makes it almost impossible to trace the manufacturer.
Parents who have bought the fake toys are urged to stop letting their children play with the toys and report them to Trading Standards by calling the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.
County councillor Andy Crump said: “I’m delighted our Trading Standards officers are taking this action to protect consumers.”
Buyers can identify fake toys by looking out for grammar and spelling errors on the packaging.
If something is being sold at heavily discounted prices and has no details of the manufacturers or the importer on the packaging, then it’s best not to buy them.
