Dolphins Have Completely Lost Their Minds With Happiness At The Sight Of A Sloth

It may seem that this time of quarantine and self-isolation because of COVID-19 brings only grim news and stories.

While this may be true for many people, animals and nature herself are not grumpy about it as they can finally enjoy more freedom.

We’ve heard about penguins’ amazing field trip around an empty Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, and two sibling puppies roaming around an aquarium in Georgia. In Belgium, orangutans in Pairi Daiza Zoo befriended a family of otters!

This time, dolphins completely lost their minds with happiness at the sight of a sloth.

Dolphins at the Texas Aquarium couldn’t contain their excitement when they saw their new sloth friend.

Sloths may not be the most expressive creatures around but dolphins definitely are. That’s probably the reason why Texas State Aquarium allowed these animals to meet each other.

3-year-old Chico the sloth toured around the empty aquarium and met a lot of animals, but meeting dolphins was the highlight of his journey.

During Chico’s journey, he saw some ducks, seahorses, shark, and colorful fish. The celebrity sloth seemed interested in jellyfish but the best interaction he has was with dolphins.

“We frequently give the animals a chance to “meet” each other as a form of enrichment, which helps keep them active in body and mind. As some of our most popular animals, it seemed an obvious choice for our sloths and dolphins to get a chance to see each other while we were temporarily closed,” an Aquarium staff said.

“We have another sloth, Xena, but on that day, she was more interested in sleeping than meeting the dolphins.”

The staff added: “Our dolphins have had the opportunity to meet several other animals over the years, including baby gators, an African serval, a red-tailed boa and others. They’re almost always very curious about the other Aquarium residents.”
