It was a rare display of affection shown by Donald Trump when he hugged the injured Afghanistan hero who sang God Bless America on his wheelchair.
The ceremony of honouring the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of the Staff was going on when U.S. Army Captain Luis Avila sang a patriotic song in the ceremony.
The ceremony was also filled with a fife, drum corp., 21-gun salute and much more.
It was a touching and super emotional moment for the people who were present there to experience pride for the nation after the song.
During the year 2011, the Army Captain Luis Avila was on a rescue mission at the Afghanistan- Pakistan border where a severe blast took place under his vehicle.
The explosion killed three people and wounded him majorly, which is why he started using wheelchair.
Avila also had two heart attacks and two strokes with a significant lack of oxygen and brain damage. The blast injured him majorly leaving him wholly confined to the wheelchair as his left leg was also amputated.
Avila suffered a lot because of the injuries and spent 40 days in a coma. Since the time he woke up from the coma, he has been using music as his therapy and recovery.
When Avila was singing at the ceremony, Donald Trump gave him a thumbs-up sign for singing so well, and when he finished his song, Donald Trump walked towards him to hug him.
Avila’s wife was so happy to see this moment that she couldn’t hold back her happy tears. It was a very proud moment for Avila himself.
