Actor Donnie Wahlberg surprised a food server with a massive tip after spending just over $35 on his order.
Proving that he has a heart of gold, the 51-year-old Blue Bloods star brightened up the day of Denise Andrews who served his meal at Marshland restaurant in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
After enjoying his meal, which came at the cost of $35.27, the actor rewarded the food server with a massive $2,020 tip as a part of the inspiring social media challenge called #2020TipChallenge.
Following the act of kindness, 56-year-old restaurant owner Marty Finch told People that the actor is a frequent customer who always requests to be served by Andrews because she is already aware of his standing order.
“When he left he just said, ‘Denise you’re all set. The payment is on the table.’ She always says he’s a very good tipper anyway but her jaw dropped, to say the least, when she saw that amount of tip,” Finch explained.
As the restaurant owner added, Denise was “very generous” with the tip whereas she “tipped out her fellow waitstaff and the guys in the kitchen.”
“She’s working on getting two families turkey meals during the holidays, so she’s generous herself. Donnie said to pass it on, to keep this positive stuff going, so she’s trying to do that as well,” Finch said of the kind server.
According to the 56-year-old, the act of kindness couldn’t come at a better time due to his restaurant’s struggles during the pandemic.
“It was just very uplifting for everyone. Me, as the owner, we’ve struggled these last eight months. We’ve really tried to keep these doors open. We actually closed for a couple of months because it just wasn’t looking good. But we reopened, and it’s been a blessing that we did,” Finch said.
