Paramount Pictures has finally revealed the first trailer for Dora and the Lost City of Gold, a live-action adaptation of the popular animated series Dora the Explorer.
Stars Isabela Moner (Dora), Eugenio Derbez (Alejandro Guttierez) and Michael Pena (Dora’s dad) introduced the trailer on stage during Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards.
It was also revealed that Danny Trejo will be the voice of Boots, Dora’s monkey best friend.
He shared on Twitter: “The rumors are true, I finally can tell you I am a monkey…Boots!!! Don’t miss the @DoraMovie trailer this Saturday 3/23, debuting live during the @Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards!”
The trailer starts with Dora in her traditional pink t-shirt and orange shorts, running through the jungle while her dad tells her the jungle is ‘a part of you.’
He added: “But exploring is not a game, and you don’t look before you leap.” It was paired with Dora taking a huge leap but didn’t make it to the other side.
The trailer also showed her parents (Michael Pena and Eva Longoria), who are explorers as well, saying they are ‘onto something big.’
They have found the ancient city made of gold and are visiting the place to prove it but they can’t bring their daughter with them.
During a school field trip, she was kidnapped by Powell (Temuera Morrison) who wants Dora to help them find her parents and the city of gold.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold will hit theaters August 2 from Paramount Pictures and people can’t wait to see the film.
