It looks like your typical glamour party with cocktails and canapes followed by a soothing manicure with professional makeup application. But these are not women out on a bridal shower or some office girls trying to de-stress. They are seven-year-olds being given the royal treatment.

Don’t worry, those are non-alcoholic drinks they’re sipping through those champagne flutes. This unique party experience is the brainchild of Polly Reehal from Worcester who says she identified a niche for giving children a “grown-up” party experience.

And to make good on her idea, she renovated a double-decker bus to transform it into a mobile party bus she named Beauty and the Bus. And business has been booming ever since she opened shop.

The idea found traction among parents and their children who are tired of the usual “pin the tail on the donkey” party experience and the 36-year-old mother-of-one can barely keep up.

Polly said she believes it’s the first of its kind in Europe.

She said: “Most party buses are tacky with ball pits and lots of pink which is not what our bus is about. Kids these days expect more, they want an experience. It’s clean, sophisticated and I want to make girls feel a million dollars.

“Makeup can really help girls with their confidence. When girls are on the bus they are always smiling and enjoy their experience.

“It makes them feel confident and happy and it gives them a boost, that’s what it’s all about.”

Upon entering through the VIP entrance, one can observe a salon distributed over two floors featuring makeup stations, a shop, karaoke area, and even a bar.

Girls are served non-alcoholic champagne on arrival as well as a selection of canapes and fruit ahead of their pampering experience.

The girls have the choice of getting their nails done and can avail of a wide range of lipsticks, moisturizers, mascaras, and other beauty products.

Polly’s intention is to boost the confidence of young girls and her popularity across the West Midlands is proof that her services are needed.

Polly said: “It’s about giving them body confidence. We’re teaching them in a fun-filled environment how to use makeup properly and say less is more and with the right secrets and tools they can be confident and be themselves.

“Makeup is something that all girls do. Everyone wants to be like mommy.

“I understand there’s a line between having fun and over sexualizing girls and I’m dead against that, it’s all about enhancing natural looks.”

Beauty and the Bus is not only about letting people know the benefits of makeup, but it also provides an on-demand birthday party experience.

She said: “I came from a strict background and my parents never let me wear makeup until I was in my 20’s and came from a generation where it wasn’t permitted to talk to boys.

“Growing up was tough.”

Polly clarified that the “glitzy” setting, Beauty and the Bus is there to celebrate and enhance natural beauty.

She said: “We’re about being modest and enhancing natural beauty, not painting beauty on. We can give girls simple, easy, fun tips so that they can keep themselves looking great.

“It’s not tacky or cheap. We always use age-appropriate high quality, branded makeup.

“We teach girls the techniques they need for a flawless look giving them a hands-on experience and always try and give them hints and tips on beauty.”
