A 53-year-old mother and her 35-year-old daughter had a double wedding on Valentine’s Day and even went on their honeymoon together.
Trisha Duffy and her daughter Aisling Cislikauskiene decided to have a joint wedding last month on Valentine’s Day and surprised their guests.
In 2012, Aisling met Marius in a nightclub in Limerick and started dating each other. They went on to have two children and then decided to get married in 2016 when Marius proposed Aisling in front of her mother and sisters.
In 2017, Trisha met Joe through a mutual friend and in 2019, Joe proposed Trisha when they were on a holiday.
Trisha, who had already booked and planned everything for her big day with the help of Aisling, was the first who suggested having a joint wedding but initially, Aisling was not ready.
Aisling said: “Marius and I told her not to be silly and said we wouldn’t want to gatecrash their big day.”
Aisling and Marius didn’t want to ruin Trisha and Joe’s big day but she knew it would save them a lot of money and it would be easier for all the guests coming to one event.
She said: “But the more we spoke about it, the more it seemed like a good idea. We ended up thinking, ‘Why not?’”
Trish bought a perfect wedding dress for Aisling and the two decided to keep it a surprise.
On their big day, Trisha walked down the aisle and married the love of her life Joe in front of 160 guests at Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick.
Meanwhile, Aisling had been hiding in a room. After they got married, Aisling walked down the aisle and married Marius.
The guests were left stunned but they all were very happy for them.
Aisling said: “It was the best day ever and it felt so special to share it with my mum.”
The couples then went on a joint honeymoon one week after getting married.
Aisling says: “We all got on so well on honeymoon. I’m so glad that as well as having an amazing husband, I’ve also become even closer to my mum. I didn’t know that was possible.”
