Drake, The Weeknd, and J.
Cole made the last moments of an 11-year-old fan by calling him on FaceTime.
The young boy named Elijah was fighting cancer for three years. Thanks to the rappers, he left the world ‘knowing how much he was loved.’
The heart-warming story was made public by one of the cousins of the deceased.
Explaining how the young fellow was feeling after talking with his favorite artists, Michael Watson II wrote on Instagram: “Over the past 3 years, my 11 y.o. cousin, Elijah, has battled cancer with the utmost resilience.
“Elijah’s physical fight is now complete, as he transitioned to heaven on Friday. He didn’t leave this world without knowing how much he was loved though.
“Last weekend, Elijah got to ‘meet’ 3 of his favorite artists — The Weeknd, J. Cole & Drake. Incredibly grateful for these 3 super-humans being so caring for my family during this time.”
Watson also shared some moments from the video call of Elijah with The Weeknd and J.Cole.
The footage shows Elijah’s lovely reaction when he realized that The Weeknd actually called him. “It’s The Weeknd,” someone from the family told Elijah while giving him the phone.
The Weeknd said: “Whoa!” at which Elijah surprisingly repeated the phrase and exclaimed: “Whoa!”
“I’m so honored to be one of your favorite artists,” The Weeknd said. “I love you, buddy.”
J. Cole, 35, also shared similar words in an attempt to console the boy. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, man,” the rapper said as he FaceTimed the little lad, adding: “I love you!”
Elijah’s face beamed up with happiness after listening to such heartening sentences. On seeing him smile, the rapper further said: “I appreciate that smile.”
Drake’s video call with the cancer victim wasn’t shared in the compilation.
Watson thanked the three gems of the music industry as they found time to encourage Elijah in his difficult times.
He wrote: “We’ll hold onto these moments forever. A special thank you to the angels, Kathryn & Krystal for helping make this happen in such a short time.
“Please lift Kiara, Elijah’s mom, and the rest of the fam up in your thoughts & prayers.
“In a time where there seems like so much is out of our control, one thing that we all have [is] the power to give + show others is LOVE. 2 Corinthians 5:8.”
