It dates back all the way to the 1970s, when, the prime medium of entertainment for Australians was to visit the different drive-in theatres to watch a movie whilst staying inside the comforts of their car.
This trend is likely to come back once more in Australia, simply to retain the practice of social distancing, so that Coronavirus doesn’t do away with people’s lives anymore.
Whether it’s the Yatala drive-in theatre in Queensland, which is supposed to resume 50% of its service quite soon, or any other drive-in theatre, Australia is certainly going to witness thriving popularity in drive-in theatres amongst its dwellers very soon.
When the Yatala drive-in theatre was inaugurated for the first time in Queensland in 1974, numerous other drive-ins came into effect soon after.
Although this privilege is provided to the various Australian dwellers simply to avoid unwanted crowds and abide by the Covid-19 protocol, certain restrictions have still been imposed at the drive-in theatres.
These include vigilance near the bathrooms, avoiding a compact gathering inside the candy bar, and, few others.
Also, according to the latest statistics, there are only as many as 16 drive-ins left in the entire nation which earlier were close to 300.
Whatever the case is, some Australian residents seem quite gleeful after the declaration of this news, as most of them are having to work from home as a result of Covid-19.
Some of them are in fact quite happy about the fact that Australia which saw the emergence of drive-ins some four decades ago, is once again witnessing a significant revival in it at the present time.
Hopefully, the eradication of Covid-19 will bring a comeback in the practice of visiting drive-in theatres to watch films every now and again.
Another reason for which this may continue is the increasing number of work-from-home employees in Australia according to a recent survey report, disclosed by LinkedIn.
According to this, at least 63% of Australian residents are expected to work from home, even after the crisis of Covid-19 gets over. Hence, at the end of each day, they are likely to opt for a drive-in visit as their mere source of entertainment.
