On his website, it was proudly claimed that the pharmacy the protagonist of the story worked for was best known for its candidness:
“We practice honesty. We never allow another pharmacy to beat our prescription cost, and in addition, we treat them like a member of our family,” the site says. “After all, Family Value Pharmacy was built to help the community as its No. 1 priority.”
Well, our headline pretty much says what happened.point 207 |
But the story behind it is way much more crazy than the imagination could probably get.point 72 | Pharmacist, Hyrum T.point 90 | Wilson, sold illegal opiods procured through the dark web.point 140 | He worked for a seemingly bland pharmacy by the name of Hyrum’s Family Value Pharmacy in Auburn, Neb.point 226 |
According to federal prosecutors, the business boomed, but he needed more supplies and obviously “never allow [someone] to beat our [drug] cost”!point 138 | 1
That is the reason why Mr. Wilson, 41, and a drug dealer conspired to not only steal opioids from an Auburn pharmacy who was in heavy competition, but to render the place with firebombs and make it irresurrectible. (No, this is not the plot summary for Breaking Bad Season 2.)
On Friday, Mr. Hyrum with charges of “conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, conspiracy to use fire and explosives — including Molotov cocktails — and possession of firearms” was arrested by Virginian police. William Anderson Burgamy IV, a drug dealer who worked as a sort of a broker, is thought to be his accomplice in the overall scheme.
“Wilson and Burgamy believed that the destruction of the Victim Pharmacy would cause Wilson’s own pharmacy business to flourish,” Samad D. Shahrani, FBI investigator, released the following information in a court affidavit. “In turn, Wilson’s distributor would increase the amount of controlled substances that Wilson could order to meet the increased demand.”
The method of their drug sales would be that Mr.point 166 | Wilson would get mailed drugs to his pharmacy, send it to Mr.point 216 |
Burgamy, who would in turn advertize and sell the drugs on the dark web with transactions and shares of their earnings in Bitcoins.point 109 | Burgamy was being investigated by the FBI since last December, when their sales of the drugs date back from August, after they got wind of his dark web existence, which was very hard for them to track in the first place due to the nature of their construct.point 319 | 1
