There was a time in the family when they all were so happy after attending the wedding and going back to home but one unfortunate incident changed their lives forever.
Christopher and Denice who were bride’s parents drove together with the bride’s sister Jennifer and her husband Neil, and also their two daughters, Katie and Grace.
They left the wedding in a limousine from Long Island, when they reached the highway a 24-year-old drunk driver named Martin Heidgen was also driving on the same road at the same time.
The drunk driver was on the wrong side of the road and he hits the limo head. The driver of the limousine, a 59-year-old man named Stanley Rabinowitz died on the spot after as he was crushed by the engine.
The bride’s father Christopher was thrown to the floor and broke different parts of his legs and sadly it resulted in an amputation and he lost both of his legs later on.
The sister of the bride, Jennifer was also in the car with her husband and two daughters who were happy and excited a few minutes ago before the accident.
What Jennifer witnessed next was extremely heartbreaking and no mother deserves to see her child in such condition. She saw her daughter Katies’ head was cut off the body.
The bride’s uncle named Michael Tangney who is a policeman was also at the wedding with this family a couple of hours ago. He said, “I was walking to the rear of the limousine when a gentleman was coming away from it, and he said, ‘Don’t go back there. It’s bad.’’
Michael said when he opened the limousine door, it was his family and he was not prepared to see what he saw.
Jennifer came out of the limo with Katie’s head in her hands and the little girl’s body was still in the car. The mother was completely broken and sat on the roadside for a while holding her dead daughter’s head on her lap.
She gently kissed her daughter’s face one last time and handed her head to Michael.
It was revealed that the drunk driver, Martin Heidgen’s blood-alcohol level was three times more than the legal limit and he was driving at a speed of 70 mph after consuming 14 drinks. He was driving on the wrong side of the highway.
Martin was sentenced to jail for 18 years with two counts of second-degree murder.
