A drunk air passenger has been arrested and could be facing jail time after breaking a plane window mid-flight.
The unnamed 29-year-old from China had allegedly drunk more than she could handle before taking to Airbus A320 to go through with the domestic flight she had planned to take.
According to the reports, the woman had just been dumped by her boyfriend prior to her flight, prompting her to drown her sadness in alcohol – two bottles of Chinese grain wine.
After boarding the plane and taking off to the skies, the woman appeared to be unstable as she began slamming the inner window in the cabin until it cracked.
Despite their best efforts, the crew allegedly couldn’t get the woman to calm down and were forced to go through with an emergency landing some halfway into the expected journey.
After the plane safely landed in Zhengzhou, the police have arrested the 29-year-old and took pictures of the damages done to the plane window.
In their statement, the police alleged that the 29-year-old was flying with Loong Air from Xining to Yangcheng at the time of the incident.
She is believed to have downed 500ml (17oz) of Chinese grain wine that can contain anywhere from 40 to 70 percent alcohol before boarding the plane.
According to the reports, the unruly passenger has been detained and accused of damaging public transportation. While it isn’t clear what punishment she awaits, some sources suggest she could be facing three to ten years in prison.
