The desert-based city of Dubai has made plenty of heads turn in the world of modern infrastructure but now, it has the world in awe after it successfully managed to create fake rain to tackle soaring temperatures.
The city is famous for going up to 50 degrees centigrade during the summertime while receiving just 4 inches of rainfall during this season too. For this reason, you can expect the unexpected from the Middle Eastern city in terms of technology and its maximal usage to help make a difference.
Recently, the government unveiled how the United Arab Emirates was on board for a project that was recently funded to allow drones to control Dubai’s weather. Yes, you heard that right. The city will now be able to manufacture rain from drone-based technology and if you fail to believe it, well, you need to think again.
Just recently, the trial phase conducted was successfully leaving so many people to hope for pleasant weather. And that is a huge sign of relief in a desert-based country like the UAE.
In case you’re wondering how much it costs, well, it certainly does not come cheap.
Think along the lines of $15 million that was paid out to nearly 9 separate rain enhancing projects.
Some local media outlets confirmed how one of those included the famous University of Reading too that are renowned for its drones that control the weather. But how exactly does this drone-based technology work?
Well, they manage to create zap clouds using an electric charge which makes an attempt to charge droplets located inside the clouds. Moreover, scientists believe that this charge further goes on to create droplets that will eventually fall down as rain! How’s that for a cool invention?
Critics are very hopeful about this project because they claim it is one of the most preferring techniques to control blazing temperatures as it does not require the use of any harmful chemicals.
