Adam Mavin, like anyone of us, thought that buying a ticket to Catfish and the Bottlemen from a stranger would be a quick procedure but he never imagined the things which unfolded afterward.
Jake Murray, who was going to celebrate his 18th birthday, had to sell his ticket after his friends canceled their plans due to some reason.
While buying the ticket from Jake, Adam learned how he was left alone on his big day.
It was when Adam, 23, and his friend Kyle, 24, decided to buy Jake a ticket for the concert. They also got him some birthday goodies and offered him to hang out with them on his birthday.
“My mate Kyle already had a ticket to go and see Catfish and the Bottlemen in Newcastle. So I looked on Twitter to see if I could get a ticket and some lad was selling some, I didn’t know who he was,” Adam, from Bedlington in Northumberland, told LADbible.
“I went to meet him and went to walk to a cash point with him.
“We were cracking on asking how old he was and stuff and he said it was his 18th birthday so I asked when he was meeting his mates and he said, ‘no they’re not coming, they’ve bailed on us last minute’ so we were just like, ‘stay with us, we’re going for a few pints first.
“He stayed with us and we took him out on the drink and then we went to the arena, seen the gig – it was his first gig – and then we got him a bit p**sed and put him on his train home afterward.”
Adam and his friend made sure that Jake had a great 18th birthday. “He was 18 at midnight, we gave him a cuddle and told him happy birthday,” he added.
Adam said that he knew first gigs are always a memorable experience for people so he and his friend did their best to make it a good memory for Jake.
He added: “His mam and dad messaged us on Facebook, thanking us and that. I told them I would meet up for a pint with him some time soon. They just said thanks for looking after him and he had a great night.”
Jake was thankful to Adam and Kyle for making his birthday a really special one.
He told LADbible: “I was really looking forward to Catfish due to them being one of my favorite bands and it was the first concert I’ve been to so I was really excited for it.
“My friend and I had originally planned on going, but he got his dates mixed up and I only checked with him late at night the day before, so he couldn’t come with me due to family reasons and during the morning of the concert I couldn’t find someone else since it was such short notice.
“In the end I had a really good birthday, Adam and Kyle were so nice and I had a really good time and on my actual birthday I got the day off of college and went out for a meal with my family.”
