Adopting a pet animal is a big decision.
Once you decide to do so, however, you realize that your pet benefits you in every possible way.
Reddit user abernha3’s post about his cat, Andrew, shows just how much pets can provide emotional comfort to their owners.
This post shows a picture of Andrew holding hands with his owners.
As abernha3 explains, this photo was taken on his final trip to the hospital.
“Little Andrew was my junior. He was 15 and a half, and loved everyone, but just got old and sick over the last year.
He purred every day of his life, and when he lost that, I knew it was time.

On the way to the vet, it almost seemed as though Andrew understood that this would be his last ride with his owners. And even if Andrew didn’t realize that he was about to be put to sleep, he definitely picked up his owners’ emotions.
“He held our hands on his last trip to the vet. Little Andrew was much stronger than his mom and I,” the user explained.
After abernha3’s post went viral, many other pet owners responded by sharing their own stories below the original post. In fact, abernha3’s post received over hundred replies – each sharing their bittersweet memories of their pets.

Another user, kykr422, wrote: “I know this feeling all too well, my little Midnight was 16 when we put her down.”
